According to an article published by the American Diabetes Association, pregnant women who are obese or who consume a high fat, high carbohydrate diet while pregnant, significantly increase the chances of their offspring developing obesity and diabetes after birth. A new study demonstrated that feeding antioxidants to obese rats, both before and during pregnancy, prevented obesity and glucose intolerance in their offspring.
